Summerdale, AL (August 26, 2022) – A Mount Vernon police officer has died following a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the Summerdale area. At around 7:30 p.m., on August 22, emergency crews were called to the scene of a vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 59.
Reports provided by the Summerdale Police Department show that a total of two vehicles collided on Highway 59 in the area near Baldwin County Road 36 during the evening hours.
One person involved in the accident, identified as a Mount Vernon police officer, suffered fatal injuries due to the accident.
