Fatal Motorcycle Accidents in Alabama
Fatal accidents take the lives of hundreds of people in the state of Alabama every year. Unfortunately, these accidents often have a devastating impact on the lives of families.
There are many factors that contribute to fatal motorcycle accidents. But some of the most common include:
Drivers Who Fail to Yield: Motorcycles have the same rights and responsibilities as other vehicles on the road. This means that they have the right of way when they are driving straight ahead or making a turn. Unfortunately, many drivers don’t realize this or simply don’t respect motorcyclists’ rights. As a result, they may fail to yield when they should, causing a collision.
Drivers Who Are Distracted: Distracted driving is a serious problem on our roads today. And it’s even more dangerous for motorcyclists because they are less visible than other vehicles and, therefore, more likely to be overlooked by distracted drivers. Drivers are talking on the phone or engaging in other distracting actions while behind the wheel, they are likely to miss seeing motorcyclists traveling nearby.
Drivers Who Run Red Lights: One of the main reasons that drivers run red lights is because they simply do not see motorcycles. This is especially true at night or in low-light conditions. Drivers may be distracted or not paying attention when the light turns yellow, and by the time they look up, it’s too late to stop.
These careless driving behaviors can have devastating consequences for motorcyclists, who are much more vulnerable to serious injury or death than occupants of passenger vehicles.
