Mobile, AL (August 3, 2022) – A wrong-way driver caused a serious head-on collision in the Mobile area on Tuesday morning that left two people injured. At around 8:50 a.m., on August 2, the Mobile Police Department responded to the scene of a crash on Interstate 165.
A male motorist was traveling southbound on Interstate 165 in the northbound lane. As a result, his vehicle crashed head-on into a second vehicle between Bay Bridge Road and Water Street. The man and the driver of the second vehicle, an adult female, were both injured as a result of the crash. The man had to be extricated by Mobile Fire-Rescue Department personnel from his vehicle.
The man and woman were both rushed to area hospitals, where they underwent emergency treatment for their injuries.
An investigation is ongoing at this time by the Mobile Police Department.
