Mobile, AL (August 31, 2022) – A motor vehicle accident has taken the life of a 42-year-old man on Tuesday evening in the Mobile area. At around 6:10 p.m., on August 30, the Mobile Police Department responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 65.
According to police, a vehicle was traveling northbound on Interstate 65 when it collided with a second vehicle. One man involved in the accident then exited his vehicle and crossed over the concrete barrier on the southbound side of Interstate 65. The man was then struck by a vehicle on the southbound side of the roadway.
The incident prompted the closure of the interstate between Airport Boulevard and Dauphin Street.
The pedestrian, identified as a 42-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on-site and spoke with law enforcement.
The Mobile Police Department is investigating the crash at this time.
