Bicycle Accidents in Alabama
Pedestrian accidents take place far too often in the state of Alabama. In many instances, those harmed are using bicycles at the time of their crash. Many bicyclists sustain severe injuries in collisions due to the fact that they are unprotected against the force of the impact. Recent statistics show that more than two hundred people have been injured in bicycle accidents in our state during a 12 month period. Around 10 of these people have lost their lives as a result of their accidents.
Some of the leading causes of bicycle accidents that we see include:
- Drivers who do not provide bicyclists with 3-feet of clearance while passing
- Drivers who turn in front of cyclists while turning
- Drivers who run red lights or pass stop signs at intersections
- Drivers who drift into bicycle lanes
- Inclement weather conditions
- Poor road conditions
Unfortunately, these actions continue to have an overwhelming impact on bicyclists. Bicycle crashes often result in catastrophic injuries for victims. Many people suffer from life-changing injuries that prevent them from ever riding their bicycles again. Some of the most common injuries suffered by bicyclists in crashes include traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and severely broken bones.
Although biking is one of the most popular forms of transportation and recreation among Alabamians, sharing the road with negligent drivers can have a very negative impact on your life. Should you suffer injuries as a result of a bicycle crash, our Mobile bicycle accident lawyers are here to help you get the justice you deserve.
