Birmingham, AL (April 6, 2022) – A chain-reaction crash took place in the Birmingham area on Tuesday morning that claimed the life of one victim. At around 6 a.m., on April 5, the Birmingham Police Department responded to the scene of a crash on Interstate 20.
Reports from authorities show that a tractor-trailer was involved in a collision on the eastbound side of Interstate 20 near mile marker 138. The incident caused moderate delays in traffic after the truck caught on fire.
For unknown reasons, a second collision took place at mile marker 136 as crews worked to clear the scene of the truck collision.
Two men involved in the second crash suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased.
An unspecified number of people were transported to local hospitals for the treatment of injuries.
